It was a refreshing and exciting time where the Bridge of sight carried out Eye screening to the pupils and Teachers of Greenvale International School Kado Abuja.

This community outreach program was part of our ongoing commitment to promoting eye health awareness among children and educators. We believe that early detection of vision problems in children is crucial for their academic success and overall development.

During the screening, our team of experienced optometrists examined the vision of hundreds of students, from kindergarten through secondary school. We tested for common vision problems such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism. Several students were identified with vision problems that were previously undetected.

In addition to the eye screenings, we presented educational books about healthy eye habits to the school. These colorful, engaging books are designed to teach children about the importance of eye care in a fun and accessible way. The books cover topics such as proper lighting for reading, the importance of taking breaks from screens, and eating foods that are good for eye health.

The response from both students and teachers was overwhelmingly positive. Many teachers expressed gratitude for bringing attention to vision health, as they had noticed some students struggling with reading or copying from the board but hadn't considered that vision problems might be the cause.

We also conducted a brief training session for teachers on how to identify potential vision problems in their students. Warning signs include squinting, sitting too close to the board, frequent headaches, and difficulty concentrating during visual tasks.

This outreach program exemplifies our mission at Bridge of Sight Foundation to make quality eye care accessible to all, especially children who might not otherwise receive vision screenings. We are grateful to Greenvale International School for their cooperation and look forward to conducting similar programs at other schools in the future.
